Recent performance issues, we’re working on them

As you might have noticed tablefinder.com has been running quite slowly during the last few days/weeks. This is due to high traffic on the site. We are working on solutions to remove bottlenecks in performance and speed up the site.

Patches will be released frequently over the next few days to improve your experience!

Interesting effects of the new web

We noticed som funny effects of making a product only using web technologies. Our software at the restaurant is basically a webbrowser in full screen mode. Since it is normally the same screen displayed at all times we had to take that into account. Easy solution: a screen saver. But wait a minute… a javascript screensaver. That must be a first. (googling “javscript screensaver” had some hits I guess, but still)

I just got a bit surprised when I switched tab in firefox and noticed my test site had the screensaver on. In the context of the fullscreen and touchscreen hardware, it was really natural, but in my browser on my laptop in a tab… a bit odd.

However, maybe this is the next generation stuff? users stay at sites like netvibes too long that they request webbased screensavers. :) Or not… you never know… just a thought.

Anders Fredriksson

Exclusive preview launch at the European championship

After a month of hard work we finally launched our exclusive preview at the presscenter at the European Championships in athletics in Gothenburg. We have installed our (alphaversioned) table management software at 5 top restaurants in the centre of Gothenburg and thus, these restaurants are bookable by the journalists at the presscenter. This is our first big test of the system, and a couple of days after launch, everything looks great.

Private alpha delay

Due to some hardware problems we will postpone the alpharelease a couple of weeks. The development is going great. We are working on some adjustments based on feedback from a first test. I’ll keep you posted!

Tablefinder attending The European Next Web Conference

TheNextWeb.org - The European Next Web Conference states that this:

“…is a must attend for every forward thinking CEO, Internet Entrepreneur, Strategy Planner, Top Notch Consultant and Venture Capitalist in Europe and a great networking opportunity.”

and I couldn’t agree more. Tablefinder will not release any new products at the conference but we see this as an great opportunity to shine some light on the company for both the general public and potential investors.

See you in Amsterdam!

Preparing for private alpha release

After a slight dip in productivity we are now working in a very high pace in order to meet our private alpha release deadline in 7 days. Our developers are doing a great job putting the pieces together. The only thing that could stop us now is the hardware supplier; can they get us what we want in time? Well I sure hope so, because we have customers waiting to use our software on site. So if you want to be one of the first to use our service, go to tablefinder.com to sign up.

Development blog finally up

As we have been working in stealth mode until this post, there just haven’t been time to set up a blog. I’m not sure about the anticipation about our product, but I am sure that you will not be disappointed.

In this first post I would like to comment on Saul Weiners entry about us. That post was fast, and I must say, indeed on target. There are more posts coming about what we actually are doing, so stay tuned.
