We noticed som funny effects of making a product only using web technologies. Our software at the restaurant is basically a webbrowser in full screen mode. Since it is normally the same screen displayed at all times we had to take that into account. Easy solution: a screen saver. But wait a minute… a javascript screensaver. That must be a first. (googling “javscript screensaver” had some hits I guess, but still)

I just got a bit surprised when I switched tab in firefox and noticed my test site had the screensaver on. In the context of the fullscreen and touchscreen hardware, it was really natural, but in my browser on my laptop in a tab… a bit odd.

However, maybe this is the next generation stuff? users stay at sites like netvibes too long that they request webbased screensavers. Or not… you never know… just a thought.
